Wakefields in Europe

Today was the day I entered into the world of facebook. I started one and it was so fun finding friends and seeing their family photos. I found friends from high school, I have not talked to in years. How fun. I found family on there. I never knew how easy it was and how it can take up hours of your day. I am glad that it was suggested to us to start one. Thank you.

The Wakefields headed to London for eight days, in August 2008. We had a wonderful time. We saw so many things and traveled by train in the underground so much that the kids knew their way around town. Kati was an expert on the train system after just a few days. Dallas and Kelsy enjoyed the buses and trains. It really is very easy to get around in London, for such a big place, it is very accessable.
We took a bus tour out to Stonehenge, that is very interesting. Dallas had gotten a "bobby hat" at Windsor place and when we got to Stonehenge he thought he was a "Bobby". We saw the Church of Christ, that some scenes in Harry Potter are based on.
London was a great trip and we all hope to go again before we leave.

Gilbrator

The rock of Gilbraltor is also quite close. We have been now a few times. There is quite a story to the rock and you can take tours to the top. The tours stop and tell you the stories along the way. There are also apes that live on the rock. They can be aggressive and the tour guide will warn you about them. They are very cute and you are tempted to try to pet them, but you should not. At the top of the rock you can see the tip of Africa, across the Strait of Gilbrator. This was a fun trip.

Portugal

Our first trip was to Portugal. We were very impressed with the landscape. What a beautiful place, and not too far from home. It was our first experience driving in Europe. We found out just how narrow some of the streets really are. Our van would have never made it through some of the streets we drove down. It was a good thing we hade rented a small car.

This is Kelsy and her friend Bradon. We went on a tour of the nativity scences in Rota around the holidays. They were very excited to be out in town together and had a great day. What a nice surprise to find a good friend to spend a long day with.
